Hermes bots — Privacy Policy

Hermes bots is a private, personal automation tool operated by Sam Silverberg. It is not a product, it is not offered to the public, and it has no users other than its operator.
The one account it touches
Hermes bots signs in to a single Google Account, monkey.zip@gmail.com, which exists solely to be that tool's own account. It does not access any other person's Google Account, and it cannot: the only credential it holds is one the operator granted from that account.
What it accesses, and why
With the permission granted on Google's consent screen, Hermes bots can:
- Gmail — read and search messages in that account, apply and remove labels, archive and move messages to trash, and send mail from that address.
- Google Drive — list, read, create, modify, move, copy and delete files in that account's Drive.
It uses this to do ordinary automation on the operator's own private workstation: reading mail that arrives for the tool, keeping files where both the operator and the tool can reach them, and sending messages the operator has asked it to send.
Hermes bots cannot permanently delete email. The permission it holds does not reach that operation.
Limited Use
Hermes bots' use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In plain terms: the data is used only to provide the features described above. It is not sold, not transferred to anyone else, not used for advertising, not used to build profiles, and not used to train any model. No human other than the operator reads it.
Where the data goes
Mail and file content is processed on the operator's own private systems and is not sent to any third party for storage or analysis. The OAuth refresh token that grants this access is held in a file readable only by the operator's own account on those machines.
Withdrawing access
Access can be revoked at any time, with immediate effect, from Google Account permissions while signed in as monkey.zip@gmail.com. Revoking it ends all access described here.
